Martin started his media career at Centaur Communications where he rose to become Group Publisher of the Architectural Division of Magazines and Websites. In 1999, his CD-ROM brand extension for ABC&D Magazine won 'Best New Media Product' and he began an eight-year love affair with the digital format.
He Joined TBC Research in 2000 as Publishing Director and developed its innovative tri-media ‘eB-21’ platform of Magazines, Websites and Events.
In 2002 Martin became Commercial Director of city-based ad agency, The ThinkTank, and launched ‘The Buyer Guides’, an electronic media company innovating in covermount-based promotions across multiple B2B and consumer sectors.
Martin oversaw the sale of Buyer Guides to Colchester-based Essential Publishing and joined them as Electronic Media Publisher. In 2004, Martin founded Expansive Media Ltd with the aim of becoming the UK's biggest developer of digital magazine promotions. Just two years and 25 million units later, Expansive has become the major force in digital media promotions.
